History |
"Bridgit Bear" (2023.4.96.1-5) was sent to the Girl Guides of Canada by the Girl Guides of Canada's Ontario Council Program Committee. According to the instruction manual (2023.4.96.6-9), each division would have their own Bridgit Bear to share between units and branches within the division. The program was meant to give members a better understanding of the many different girls within their division who are part of the guiding movement. The program was to be supervised by the White Oak Area's Program Representative to ensure that Bridgit Bear was being shared equally. Upon receiving Bridgit Bear, the unit would have two weeks to contact another unit and hold a joint meeting. If meeting was not feasible, units may send activities, games, crafts, etc., to the next unit by mail or video tape. During the two weeks that the unit would have Bridgit Bear, the girls would play with and include Bridgit Bear in their day-to-day activities. Further, they would complete a travel diary of the bear's activities that would passed from unit to unit and give an interesting log of Bridgit's travels and activities. The following was to be read to the unit receiving Bridgit Bear: "Dear Spark/Brownie/Guide/Pathfinder/Ranger/Cadets: Hi! I'm Bridgit Bear. I am here to visit with you for two weeks. You can show me what Sparks/Brownies/Guides/Pathfinders/Rangers/Cadets do and maybe sing me your favourite song. At the end of my visit you will share me with another group in your Division. Please write in my travel diary to tell others about the fun I had with your group. Thank you for looking after me! Bridgit Bear" |
