Description |
Dr. Martin Dobkin Community Park is named after the first City of Mississauga mayor who served for three years beginning on January 1, 1974, the same day that the towns of Mississauga, Streetsville and Port Credit joined to form the City of Mississauga. The master plan for the park was developed in 1986 by Recreation and Parks. Four developers contributed land for the park including: Milac Holdings Ltd., Rogers Communications Inc., Matthews Group, and Dundas-Fairview Planning. The park is 10.2 hectares (25.2 acres), including seven hectares of open space and a 3.2 hectare woodlot. It fronts onto Confederation Parkway, Central Parkway West, and Fairview Road West, with ornate granite pillars framing all three entrances. Facilities in the park at the time of opening included four tennis courts, lighted baseball, softball and soccer fields, a pathway system and a playground. |
