A taxidermy stuffed snowy owl with yellow glass eyes atop a faux rock with fake foliage and snow. The owl is encased in a glass case with dark wood trim. |
History |
This magnificent snowy owl was a menace to the chickens on the Greeniaus farm in historic Mississauga's Sheridan Village. For several months the family had tried to protect their chickens and scare off the owl, without success. Wilmer Greeniaus recalled that his father, Norman, did not want to harm the beautiful bird. Finally, with no other choice, Norman shot the owl in the fall of 1926. The family had it preserved and they nicknamed the owl "Gaylord" after Norman’s father, Gaylord Greeniaus. |
