Biography |
Murray Hamilton Greeniaus was born on August 24, 1914 to Norman Pomeroy Greeniaus (1876-1970) and Ethel Irene Hamilton (1885-1962). Murray later married Edith Elaine (Betty) Cox (1920-1986). Murray grew up on the Greeniaus family farm on the north half of Lot 34, Concession 2, SDS, in Toronto Township's Sheridan Village (now part of Mississauga). In 1891, Murray's grandfather, Gaylord Greeniaus built a brick house on the property, where Murray would have lived as a boy. Gaylord sold the land to his eldest son, Charles W. Greeniaus (1866-1929), in 1873, who continued farming the land. Then, Charles sold the parcel to his younger brother (and Murray's father), Norman P. Greeniaus (1876-1970), in 1910. In 1941, Norman sold the property to Murray's younger brother, Wilmer Greeniaus (1918-2006). In 1955, the family sold the property to United Lands Corporation for the development of the Park Royal subdivision. Murray passed away on September 13, 1992 and is buried alongside his wife in Springcreek Cemetery. |
